Short Term Goals
Continue to gain skills as a medical educator and prepare for a career in medical education
Complete the UCSF Health Professions Education Advanced Pathway.
Complete a Master of Arts in Education at the University of California, Berkeley.
Develop varied curriculum with a focus on procedural education for Internal Medicine Residents and Pulmonary Fellows
In conjunction with Dr. Amy Morris Associate Professor of Pulmonary & Critical Care, complete a video module “Prevention & Management of Pneumothorax Following Bronchoscopy” This is part of the larger Pulmonary Online Learning Modules through the University of Washington WISH Lab, which includes my previous work on a “Fluoroscopy with Bronchoscopy” module.
Along with the UCSF Makers Lab, supported by funding from the Nina Ireland Program for Lung Health Innovations Grant, develop a novel 3D printed pleural procedure task trainer.
In collaboration with the UCSF Hospitalist Procedure Service, funded by the Haile T. Debas Academy of Medical Educators Innovations Funding Program, develop a pleural pathology & procedure curriculum for Internal Medicine Residents, as well as a “teach the teacher” curriculum for senior residents.
Continue to build medical education research skills and build my portfolio of scholarly work
Build my qualitative research skills through completion of an exploratory, qualitative study, funded by the CHEST Foundation, is intended identify aspects of Reflection Rounds (guided reflective session in the ICU) that contribute to trainees’ subjective wellness or lower self-reported burnout. A project currently funded by a joint grant from the CHEST Foundation and APCCMPD.
Further gain qualitative research skills, including participating in monthly qualitative research consult group meetings at the VA Puget Sound.
Long Term Goals
Complete Interventional Pulmonology Fellowship at the BIDMC-MGH Combined Program, with plans for practice in an academic setting
Develop varied procedural curriculum for residents and fellows as a Pulmonary/Critical Care faculty member in academic institution
Serve in a leadership role in a Graduate Medical Education program
