The Jeffery Golden Outstanding Clinical Fellow Award (2023-2024)

For this award, fellows and faculty from the UCSF Pulmonary and Critical Care Division nominate a clinical fellow who exemplifies the ideals of an outstanding clinician, as modeled by Dr. Golden, a remarkable clinical leader and teacher. The UCSF Pulmonary Division awards committee selects the winner from the nominees, recognizing a physician who demonstrates exceptional knowledge, superior communication skills, and the ability to provide compassionate, effective, and high-quality patient care.


Pulmonary & Critical Care Fellow of the Year (2022-2023)

This award is chosen by the UCSF Internal Medicine Residents and given to the fellow who has demonstrated exceptional patient care, superior knowledge, and skill in pulmonary medicine, as well as, outstanding teaching and professionalism.


The Haile T. Debas Academy of Medical Educators Innovations Funding for Education (2023)

The Haile T. Debas Academy of Medical Educators aims to foster an organizational culture that values education and accelerates advances in teaching and learning to improve health with an emphasis on community, diversity, advocacy, service, and innovation. The Innovations Funding in Education Grant is a competitive program supports curricular innovation and medical education scholarship.


Nina Ireland Program for Lung Health Medical Education Innovations Grant (2023)

The mission of the Nina Ireland Program for Lung Health (NIPLH) is to build and sustain the world’s leading program for pulmonary clinical care, training and research emphasizing innovation and collaborative approaches. This grant was awarded to projects deemed most likely to have the most impact.


CHEST Foundation and APCCMPD Award Research Grant for Medical Education (2020)

Awarded jointly by the CHEST Foundation and Association of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Program Directors (APCCMPD)(APCCMPD) for a current ongoing project “What’s good about Soul Food? Discovering and analyzing elements of an ICU team group discussion which improve provider wellness."

2020 was the inaugural year the medical education research grant is awarded jointly by the CHEST Foundation and the APCCMPD with the aim to advance graduate medical education and provide opportunities for scholarly activity that support medical educators in the field of adult pulmonary and/or critical care graduate medical education.

American Thoracic Society Innovations in Fellowship Education (2020)

Awarded for the “Fluoroscopy with Bronchoscopy” video module by the ATS Training Committee as one of three top abstracts for the 2020 ATS Innovations in Fellowship Education program.

“It was evident through your abstract that your program has proven exceptional over the past year and has shown innovation and educational excellence. The ATS Training Committee values the importance of a solid and reputable fellowship training program and we applaud you for this high achievement.”


Best of ATS Video Lecture Series (BAVLS) Second Place Winner (2020)

The “Fluoroscopy with Bronchoscopy” video module was selected as a “Top Educational Video” and awarded second place in the Best of ATS Video Lecture Series. Teaching videos are selected for demonstrating innovative, creative and engaging ways to teach about topics in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine.


Medicine Resident Excellence in Teaching Award (2017-2018)

Awarded to residents who demonstrate exceptional devotion to the teaching and mentoring of medical students by the University of Washington Department of Medicine. All third and fourth year students were asked to submit nominations, which were then reviewed by a faculty committee. Below is an example comment of one of the nominations.

“She was an exceptional teacher, always took time to answer questions, went out of her way to prepare teaching, and was a constant advocate for our learning and growth as students. Both I and another student on the service at the end of the year were incredibly impressed by how much time and effort she took to ensure that we as students felt supported on an already very busy service for her. I cannot think of anyone else who deserves an award for dedication to student education than Ilana Krumm”

Family Medicine Student Professionalism Award Nominee (2015)
